What about WHOIS privacy?
Privacy options vary by extension, because the registries set the rules rather than us. Nominet already withholds addresses for non-trading individuals on .uk domains. We will tell you what is available for the extension you are registering.
Can I transfer a domain in from another registrar?
Yes. For .uk domains it is a tag change and takes minutes. For .com and similar you need an auth code from your current registrar, and the transfer adds a year to the registration.
Do I own the domain?
You are the registrant, and it is registered in your name — not ours. You can move it away whenever you like once it is past the initial 60-day lock that the registries impose.
What happens if I forget to renew?
Expiry reminders are sent before the renewal date. After expiry a domain typically enters a registry redemption period where it can often still be recovered, though the registry charges a recovery fee at that point. The exact windows are set by each registry.
